PATAC Reduced Scale Wind Tunnel was put into operation in September 2018 with a total investment of 140 million RMB. It is the first reduced scale wind tunnel in China and its aerodynamic performance has reached the international leading level.
PATAC Reduced Scale Wind Tunnel is a 3/4 open jet test section wind tunnel with close circuit. The main structure includes fan section, diffuser, contraction and test section etc. The air flow in the wind tunnel is generated by the fan system and produces the aerodynamic forces on the test model which is installed in the test section. The aerodynamic force is accurately measured by the balance system with the high accuracy up to ± 0.2N. In addition, the wind tunnel includes other subsystems, such as 5-belts system, boundary layer removal system and automatic model positioning system etc.
The testing model is 40% scaled model, the model shape is improved and the aerodynamic drag is reduced continuously during the testing to meet the development requirement. PATAC Reduced Scale Wind Tunnel will continuously improve the aerodynamic development capability of the aero team and provide strong support for the development of more advanced low drag and energy-saving vehicles with better aerodynamic performance for the global market!
